Boston Police Welcomes Tall Ships to Boston During 2026 Parade of Sail

As this historic summer of world-class events continues in the City of Boston, our officers were proud to be part of welcoming Tall Ships from around the world to Boston Harbor as the 2026 Sail Boston- Parade of Sail took place.
Our officers were deployed on land and sea along the waterfront from South Boston, Seaport, Downtown, the North End, Charlestown to East Boston, to ensure residents and visitors safely enjoyed this memorable event.

Officers from District B-3 spent time with seniors from the Dorchester and Mattapan communities at the Haitian Adult Day Center.
Spending time with our senior community is an important part of community policing. All of our residents need to know we are here for them, and we are grateful for each opportunity to strengthen those connections!

Police Memorial Sunday

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, members of the Boston Police Department gathered to observe Police Memorial Sunday, an annual day of remembrance established by state statute to honor all deceased members of the Department.
The observance began with a memorial Mass celebrated by Reverend John J. Connolly and Grand Rabbi Y.A. Korff. Mayor Michelle Wu, Police Commissioner Michael Cox, members of the Boston Police Department, both active and retired, stood in uniform alongside family members and members of the community to pay their respects to fallen colleagues.
Police Memorial Sunday is held each year on the first Sunday in June and serves as a solemn reminder of the service and sacrifice of those who dedicated their lives to protecting the City of Boston. The event offers an opportunity for the Department to reflect, remember, and express gratitude for those who have passed.

BPD in the Community: District E-5 Gives Ride on BPD Gator to Local Family” Program

Officers from District E-5 reconnected with our buddy Austin and his family for a special visit in West Roxbury.
At the end of last year, the Boston Police Department had the honor of escorting his family to the airport as he embarked on his Make-A-Wish trip to Disney. Knowing Austin’s love for police vehicles, our officers stopped by to check in and gave him a ride in a BPD Gator.

BPD in the Community: District A-7 Hosts Station Tour for Local Students

Officers from District A-7 welcomed students from the Mario Umana Academy in East Boston to the A-7 District Station for a behind-the-scenes visit.
Our officers provided transportation for the students before giving them a tour of the station, introducing them to the officers who serve their neighborhood, and answering questions about what it’s like to be a Boston Police officer.
